Glasgow Student Accommodation 2026: Affordable Housing Near UofG, Strathclyde & GCU

Glasgow is the UK’s best-value major student city. Rent is 40% cheaper than Edinburgh (an hour away) and 60% cheaper than London. The University of Glasgow’s gothic main building looks like Hogwarts, and the city’s live music and arts scene rivals any in Europe.

UofG (West End)

Hillhead & Kelvinbridge: The main student area, around Byres Road and Great Western Road. Tenement flats, independent bookshops, and the Botanic Gardens. Rooms £100–160/week.

Partick: West of the university, across the River Kelvin. Grittier, more affordable. Rooms £90–145/week.

Anniesland: Further west on the ScotRail line. Suburban, 2 stops from UofG. Rooms £80–130/week.

Strathclyde & GCU (City Centre)

Merchant City: The city centre’s coolest quarter. Converted warehouses, design shops, excellent restaurants. 5 min walk to Strathclyde. Rooms £110–170/week.

Dennistoun: East End, east of the city centre. Glasgow’s hipster frontier — Duke Street has sourdough bakeries and craft beer bars. 15 min walk to Strathclyde. Rooms £85–140/week.

PBSA

Unite Students (Buchanan View, Blackfriars), Student Roost, iQ. Studios £140–240/week.
